The title tag  of your blog (the text that appears on top of your browser when visiting your blog) is undoubtedly one of the most important factor for determining your blog’s search engine ranking. There are two common mistakes that bloggers make, The first one is to use a single title which is usually their blog name for all the pages throughout the site. This must be avoided because the title of a page should match the content inside it. So for instance when you are reviewing Apple Ipod Accessories in your blog, you should make your title something that describes the post (E.g. Apple Ipod Accessories Review) rather than just the name of your blog (e.g. John’s Blog).

The second mistake that people make quite often is that they stuff too many keywords on their title tag, hoping that search engines will take all of them into consideration while determining site ranking. I bet you have seen a title like this: “Technology Blog - Free Resources for blogs, websites, technology, internet, applications, software, hardware, web hosting, SEO, Affiliate Marketing!”This kind of title should be avoided because search engines put a value on title keywords depending on the total number of keywords. The result is that the higher the number of keywords in your title will give you a smaller value in terms of relevancy.

A good title tag, therefore, should be short (no more than 2 or 3 keywords) and must be relevant to the content inside the page.
